Reason for consultation

A patient came urgently for a red eye And a bilateral tingling sensation (OR), accompanied by colored secretions. It reports a Similar episode a year ago.

Clinical results

  • Primary diagnosis : Chalazion Left Eye (OS)
  • Other bilateral observations (OR) :
    • Demodex blepharitis Grade 3+
    • Meibomian gland dystrophy Grade 2

Treatment initiated

  1. Eyelid cleaning With the Zocular ZEST system, followed by a session of photobiomodulation.
  2. Daily maintenance :
    • Blephadex wipes X 2 months, then transition to Blephaclean.
  3. Anti-inflammatory and antibiotic treatment (OS only) :
    • Tobradex TID OS ointment X 7-10 days.
  4. Thermotherapy :
    • TID Hot Compresses (BlephaeyeBag) Up to Full resolution of the chalazion.

Clinical evolution

  • Complete resorption Of the chalazion in 2 days.
  • Disappearance the tingling sensation.
  • Good compliance to the treatment.

Conclusion and recommendations

This case highlights the importance of a careful management of demodex blepharitis. Good control of this inflammation contributes to the improvement of the ocular surface and reduce the risk of chalazion recurrence.

🔹 Follow-up plan : In-clinic eyelid cleaning every 6 months For a better control of inflammation and meibomian dysfunction.
